Massage does not include the diagnosis of a specific pathology, the prescription of drugs or controlled substances, spinal manipulation or those acts of physical therapy that are outside the scope of massage therapy.

Frequently asked questions about massages that we offer
- What is Swedish massage?
- Swedish massage is the most popular form of massage in Europe that involves palpation and manipulation of the body to promote relaxation, higher energy and oxygenation of tissues, without targeting specific areas. It is recommended as a general maintenance treatment.
What is deep tissue massage?- Deep tissue massage is designed to target specific areas, for example calves and hamstrings of runners, or necks, backs and shoulders of those who have sedentary occupations. It involves slower, deeper movers, sometimes stretches and acupressure therapy.
- What is lymph drainage massage?
- The strokes applied in manual lymph drainage are designed to stimulate the movement of the lymphatic fluids in order to assist the body in cleansing, reduce oedema (stagnant fluid, water retention) and promote detoxification of tissues. This is a gentle, rhythmical technique that removes inflammatory materials and toxins from the connective tissue, enhances the activity of the immune system, reduces pain, and lowers the activity of the sympathetic nervous system.
- What is Stone Massage Therapy?
- The stone massage therapy uses Mexican Lava Stones of all shapes and sizes and varying temperatures to promote physical healing, mental relaxation, and a deeply spiritual experience. Warm stones encourage the exchange of blood and lymph and provide soothing heat for deep-tissue work. Cold stones aid with inflammation, moving blood out of the area, and balancing male/female energies.

The Mud Detox Wrap is our most popular wrap – here are the most frequently asked questions about it
- Why do we need to detoxify the skin, don’t we sweat out all the toxins?
- Skin is an amazingly complex organ and, by weight, the largest of the body. It covers some 22 square feet and weighs around nine pounds (roughly 7% of body weight). Skin is the extension of our nervous system to the outside of the body. Often referred to as our third lung, it is involved in processes of exchange between the internal and external environments – respiration, absorption and elimination.
The skin is an important organ of detoxification. Toxins are absorbed from the external environment, but there is also an accrued buildup of wastes and toxic residues that the body has been unable to eliminate. As these toxic wastes accumulate, tissues become more dense and less pliable, with decreased sensitivity and responsiveness.
Detoxifying the skin involves exfoliating dead skin cells, enabling younger fresher cells to come to the surface, and activating the body’s lymphatic system, which is our main self-cleansing mechanism and the nervous system – the messenger delivering necessary information that enables our bodies to function properly. - What exactly is clay?
- Clays are natural materials from the earth that harden as they dry, and so have been used for centuries to draw oils, impurities, and toxins from the skin. They are used for their natural properties in and on the body. Externally, they reduce swellings, inflammation, drain infections and contaminations, cleanse and protect the skin. Clays are used as poultices (on sore joints and muscles, for arthritis, swellings, tumours, water retention, cellulite, oedema, etc.), as a component of baths, creams, lotions, body wraps and masks. Over the centuries have also been used internally, as they were considered to cleanse, drain, detoxify, and balance the pH and the intestinal flora. They are not absorbed by the body, but communicate with it, exchanging ions and removing toxins.
- What are the functions of clay?
- Clay works through adsorbing toxic substances and other impurities associated with the outer skin, it stimulates skin cells by drawing fresh blood to damaged areas, and revitalizes the complexion through tightening pores and firming the skin. Clay has traditionally been used primarily for drainage (to reduce swelling, appearance of cellulite, oedema, infection, abscess, cyst, water retention etc.), and secondarily for cicatrisation, purification, detoxification and biochemical balancing.
- What does the Wellbeing Now Mud Paste consist of?
- We buy our clay from ecologically clean producers, and then mix it with oils and honey which is well known for its skin moisturising properties. The mix is fresh every time. This makes sure that the skin is re-moisturised and nourished in the process of the detoxifying thermal treatment.
