Jessica's Story
When Galina asked me if I’d like to be a lab rat for the new programme she was designing around Vibrostation™ I leapt at the chance simply because I had heard that 10 minutes exercise on the vibrating plate is the equivalent of 60 minutes of conventional exercise. I know a bargain when I see one!
The only way I’ve successfully exercised for any length of time in the past is when I’ve had a personal trainer – someone who is good at motivating me to keep going. As I was off to Peru for a fairly active holiday over Christmas I was really keen to see how much I could improve my fitness and tone up in a short space of time.
When I told people what I was going to be doing, several were under the impression that with Vibrostation™ you just stood on the machine and let it wobble you about a bit!
I regret to inform you that you do need to make a bit more of an effort than that.
The exercises you perform on the vibrating platform are ones that any gym goer would be familiar with: stomach crunches, hamstring curls, squats , stretches etc but you do them for short intervals whilst standing on “wobbly ground”.
However I think you really do need to work with an experienced trainer to get maximum benefit from exercises coupled with vibration. The positioning and movements need to be just right to get full benefit of the exercise and Galina made seemingly small adjustments to my position that made the exercises much more effective (and harder!).
There is no question that it’s very hard work but as I only had to do the exercises for 30 seconds at a time this was completely achievable. Just when I wanted to quit, the time was up!
I could really tell what a thorough workout I was getting when on the third day in to the programme my stomach muscles were screaming in protest. They had been in hibernation for about a year and didn’t know what had hit them and I spent a day trying not to laugh or cough!
The programme Galina has devised also gives you a lovely treat at the end of the work out. When you have done the hard work you get to relax in a detox foot soak while sitting in a chair with a back massager - bliss.
At the end of the programme I’m amazed at how much more energy I’ve got. I’ve also noticed that my flexibility has improved and the bending and stretching is getting a lot easier and accompanied by a lot less creaking! I’m also sleeping like a log at night. Best of all I’m a lot more toned particularly around my waist. My holiday clothes are a lot looser around the waist than I remember. I’m very impressed with the results that can be achieved in just 2 weeks.
