Frequently Asked Questions
- What is it?
- Removal of the outer layer of the skin by a process known as Microdermabrasion and Ultrasonic DermaPhoresis to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, increase skin elasticity and collagen production.
- Results
- The Salt-A-Peel treatment effectively improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles; sun damaged skin; age spots; miscellaneous scarring; acne scarring; stretch marks and even active acne.
- Time allocation
- Each procedure lasts less than one hour on the average.
- Cost
- Around £120 per procedure, saving of around 20% if taken as a course. Please see the List of Treatments for up-to-date prices.
- Instant effect
- Virtually immediate reduction in the signs of skin damage, wrinkles, spots and scarring. Accelerates healing of active acne, with results being achieved within the first 24 hours. Unlike chemical peels and aluminium oxide peels there is no downtime.
- Long-term effect
- Collagen production is increased and the pace of skin cell renewal is accelerated, causing the skin to look fresher and more toned. Considerable improvements in active acne are achieved in conjunction with other cleansing therapies.
- How long does the effect last?
- At least a few weeks after the first treatment; as the course progresses the effects tend to last longer with good home care.
- Frequency
- Manufacturers recommend 7 treatments with an original interval of 2-3 weeks between treatments. With sensible use of home care and diet the intervals may be increased towards the end of the course. Maintenance treatments are quarterly afterwards.

The Salt-A-Peel™
microdermabrasion
can now be carried outA course of 7 treatments with 14 to 21 day intervals is recommended for maximum effect.
You may resume normal daily activities immediately following the Salt-A-Peel treatment. There is no downtime whatsoever. As pure salt is used as an abrasive and delivered under positive pressure there is no post-treatment redness or swelling.
The Salt-A-Peel treatment combines a unique patented ultrasound massage DermaPhoresis with rich, proven anti-oxidants and the unique salt-based microdermabrasion using positive pressure. It is widely used in over 400 clinics in the US and is now being established in the UK.
Immediate results:
Clients report feeling immediate and continuous tightening, reduction of fine lines, wrinkles and stretch marks and softer and smoother skin. They have noticed that their skin is more resilient…friends have told them that they seem to have that "youthful glow" about them.
Medical researches have indicated that this system provides more consistent cosmetic benefits when compared with other modalities such as non-invasive laser resurfacing, photofacials and photorejuvenation.
How does microdermabrasion work:
Consider the outer layer of your skin (stratum corneum) as a protective cuticle that has become thickened usually as a result of sun damage. The Salt A-Peel™ MACRO-abrasion™ removes the hard top layer of the epidermis (stratum corneum) exposing the fresher and softer skin layers beneath.
Microdermabrasion is one of the most widely used cosmetic procedures in the US and is now equally recognised in the UK with proven benefits in treating skin problems such as fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring and pigmentation.
Ultrasonic DermaPhoresis:
DermaPhoresis is a 5-minute ultrasound treatment using an optimised frequency to gently massage a specially formulated masque cream containing powerful vitamins and glycolic products into the dermis of the skin. The ultrasound treatment has been developed to ensure that the effect of the masque cream is focused intradermally, i.e. in the top layers of the skin, to stimulate the fibroblast cells responsible for the production of new collagen and elastin. The masque cream contains carefully selected vitamins and other topical agents that are known fibroblast stimulators and are essential for skin renewal.
DermaPhoresis utilizes the sound waves of a 3 MHz UltraSound device to create an effect on the skin termed "cavitation". Cavitation by the ultrasound device produces an "air bubble" like effect in the lipid bi-layer of the stratum corneum. This allows increased permeability of the skin for a short time. The specially formulated cream (comprised of effective antioxidants and AHA's in concentrations not found in many over-the-counter products) is gently massaged in a repetitive and soothing circular motion into the skin with an ultrasonic device. A protective gel is then applied and you leave the clinic feeling "wonderful!"
Salt Microdermabrasion:
Salt Microdermabrasion is carried out either before or after the DermaPhoresis treatment. The Salt Microdermabration is a 25-minute positive pressure painless peel using pure salt as the abrasive. It removes dead skin cells and encourages cell renewal and collagen production.
Micro-surgical facelift Lifting–C
Frequently Asked Questions
What is it Lifting-C?- As we mature, our skin matures with us, and production of collagen and elastin could definitely do with a little bit of help. Micro-current applied during this facial treatment encourages skin to accelerate production of its own collagen, and the collagen gel we use during the treatment speeds up the process.
- Can you describe the treatment?
- It is an extremely relaxing treatment. You lie down on the couch, and the therapist uses two metal probes to massage your skin and facial and neck muscles and give them a good workout.
At the end of the treatment we use Ultrasound DermaPhoresis to help absorb the nutrients and extend the effects of the treatment. - Results
- One treatment will relax you and plump up the skin, while the course of treatments will have effects on collagen production per se by re-training the cells to produce more collagen.
- Time allocation
- Each treatment lasts one hour.
- Cost
- £60 per procedure, around 10% off if you book a course of six. Please see the List of Treatments for up-to-date prices. Monthly maintenance is recommended afterwards.
- Course Frequency
- We recommend completing the course within six weeks at most for best results.
- How long does the effect last?
- At least a few months after the first course, the effects tend to last longer with good home care.
How To Stay Young
Here are the 25 simple tips that work:
Lifestyle and Exercise:
- Drink plenty of water
- Raise your heart rate (jog, walk fast, swim – anything that requires a little bit of extra effort) for at least 20 minutes every day
- Keep your bone density high – engage in strength training a couple of times per week. Bodies that are well-toned and muscular age slower
- Stretch, do yoga or use an inversion table to counteract the effects of gravity
- Keep yourself light – do not eat more than you need to or faster than you have to.
Dietary:
- The bulk of your diet should consist of green leafy and other vegetables, seeds, nuts, fruit, grains and pulses, in their natural unprocessed forms whenever possible
- Make sure you eat high-quality proteins to help the body rebuild your cells
- Eat foods that are natural, look natural and taste natural, that have grown naturally etc.
- Chew your food well
- Eat for what you are about to do, not for what you have done
- Wellbeing Now's "Guide to Healthy Eating"
Cleansing and Detox:
- Make sure you have daily bowel movements
- Help your body to detoxify on a regular basis by eating fresh fruit and vegetables only one day per week
- Dry skin brush for a few minutes a day before taking a shower
- Rub your face and body with ice cubes immediately before showering to increase circulation and strengthen the immune system
- Have regular colonic cleansing procedures, massages and heated mud wraps to help your skin and other organs of the body to work better
Emotional:
- Learn something new every day and “do one thing every day that scares you”. Remember, children, adolescents and young adults do it all the time!
- The older you become the more important it is to have good quality sleep to let the body recharge every cell
- Learn to like yourself for what you are and build on your strengths
- Of all the stimulants that are available today (from drugs to sugar
and coffee) only adrenalin makes you stay younger in the long term
Challenge yourself enough to keep yourself young - Make sure you like your face. Every time you look in the mirror surprise yourself at how young and beautiful or handsome you look
Looking younger:
- Sleep on a high-density foam pillow: this will stretch your neck and stop your face from developing “sleep wrinkles”
- Accept that you too will get old. However, not all wrinkles are born equal. Some can be reduced or avoided altogether. Not smoking is a good start
- Always wear the sunblock and limit sun exposure of your face (and breasts – for women)
- Clean your face every day and exfoliate regularly in order to unblock the pores, stimulate cell renewal and let your skin breathe
- Consider investing in high quality facial and body treatments and products, they work
