About Galina Imrie
After graduating from the University in 1981 as a major in French, English and Educational Psychology, Galina worked for educational television writing and presenting programmes, travelled and worked as a journalist before settling in the UK in 1989 to pursue a career as a BBC journalist followed by work in the City.
In late 1990s Galina took a career break to do a full-time course of Sports Therapy, Sports Nutrition and Fitness Studies at Reading College of Art and Design, followed by a course in Iridology and a course in Nutrition.
Galina had been initially trained in Colonic Hydrotherapy at the National College of Holistic Medicine by Dr. Milo Siewert - the founder of the Association of Colonic Hydrotherapy Practitioners. This was followed by a course in Advanced Colon Hydrotherapy Training in the European School of Colon Hydrotherapy.
Galina is one of the six European Trainer level practitioner members of the International Association of Colon Therapists (I-ACT), the world’s largest organization of colon hydrotherapists uniting 2,250 members from 30 countries. She is founder and Principal of the Chi Centre for Practical Detoxification, an I-ACT accredited training school.
Galina's book "Always Look After Number Two! A Guide to Better Health through Colonic Irrigation and Bowel Care" published in March 2006 by Fotherby Press, has instantly become popular both among practitioners and the general public.
Galina’s interests include researching brain-gut connection, travelling, product design for therapists and creating mosaic art.
Interns
Karen Scott
After a successful career as a spa and hospitaility manager in India and Goa, Karen graduated from the Chi Centre's colon hydrotherapy course in summer 2007. As an exceptional student she was immediately offered an internship in Wellbeing Now.
Karen works as a colon hydrotherapist on Saturdays and has created a faithful following in a very short time.
Janie van Rooyen
Yanie qualified as a colon hydrotherapist at the Chi Centre in March 2007. She successfully combines her career as an occupational therapist specialising in rehabilitation with an active colon hydrotherapy practice.
Due to Janie's exceptional qualities as trainer and facilitator she has been treatment supervisor during the Chi Centre's training courses and she is universally liked by students and clients alike.
Steve Imrie
Steve was born in Edinburgh. He went to George Heriot’s school, where he got the bug for theatre production from his English teacher. By the time he finished school he was already working as a lighting technician and designer for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
After going to engineering college Steve returned to working in professional theatre mainly in his home town, but also in other Scottish venues and on tours. Having never settled into a daytime job, Steve soon became chief electrician of Edinburgh Playhouse, one of Europe’s top Rock-n-Roll and theatre touring venues, where he met Galina in 1991. Galina was, at the time, in charge of Language Support for the Edinburgh Festival.
They both moved to England where Steve continued working as a technical manager for one of London's theatres.
After taking time out to go with Galina on a foreign posting, Steve decided to change direction and developed a very successful business working as a maintenance engineer.
In 2002, when Steve and Galina bought the the shell of “Wellbeing Now”, Steve single-handedly managed the complete re-build of the place.
Steve has stayed in the business ever since, managing the Wellbeing Now practice, Detox Breaks and later the Chi Centre.
Having been around colon therapy practitioners for so many years, Steve has now designed and trademarked Aqua-Clinic, a new colon hydrotherapy gravity instrument.
